Healthcare workers are subjected to tough working conditions that are aggravated by bullying and discrimination that is pervasive in the profession. These issues could lead to a burnout and rising mental health problems, including depression and suicide. In turn, this could lead to increased absenteeism, increased medical errors and healthcare workers leaving the sector altogether. Ultimately this affects the quality of healthcare service delivery to the people of the country. In this way, the issues raised in the documentary is considered a social determinant of health. It is of public health importance as we need a functional health system for the overall health of the country.
